In 2006 while recording the audio material for what would become The Anta Project, I stopped at a roadside shrine on the way to Three Points, Arizona.
The shrine was well maintained and I was told it was kept that way by migrants and Border Patrol alike.
Today the shrine has been completely demolished.
The religious statues and votive candles it once contained are smashed and scattered around the area where it once stood.
In celebration of the theme of World Listening Day 2016 -- Sounds Lost and Found --- I offer two recordings.
The first is from 5/25/06 of the wind howling within the shrine.
The second is from 7/17/16 of the wind whispering where it once stood.
